Wins within the sample

Wins for three teams in the ten-row sample, which includes played series from 1903–1913. These are not all-time totals.

Each team name is counted exactly as it appears in the WinningTeam column.

Count team wins.
Build a bar chart.

The MLB World Series Champions list includes Year, WinningTeam, LosingTeam, Games, and manager fields. Check which years the dataset includes before choosing your date range.

  1. Import the file and check the rows.

Open the CSV, confirm the headers, and sort Year numerically. Check for duplicate years and missing results. Keep Games as text: a value such as 4-3-(1) is a series result, not a single number.

  2. Create the pivot table.

Use WinningTeam for rows and a count of Year for values. Sort the counts from highest to lowest and insert a horizontal bar chart. Include the years covered by your file in the chart title, and note any gaps.

  3. Account for team name changes.

The pivot table counts different team names separately, even when they belong to the same franchise. To combine them, make a separate table linking historical names to the franchise name you want to use. Check and document those links before adding the totals together.
