Answer “what date will it be?” and check the day it lands on
Type a number and get the date: days, weeks, months, years, business days, or a day of the week such as the third Thursday from now. The answer says when it falls on a weekend or a federal holiday and names the next business day. Count days gives the time between two dates in days, weeks, months and business days, both ways of counting.
Date questions people ask
A deadline 30 days out
Input
30 days after Friday, November 6, 2026
Result
Sunday, December 6, 2026
The answer is a Sunday, so it also names the next business day, Monday, December 7. Customize can make that the answer instead.
Business days around a holiday
Input
10 business days after Friday, November 20, 2026
Result
Monday, December 7, 2026
Weekends and Thanksgiving Day are skipped. The start date is not counted, so counting from November 20 to December 7 gives 10 business days again.
Days left in the year
Input
From November 6, 2026 to December 31, 2026
Result
55 days
That is 7 weeks and 6 days, or 36 business days. Counting both dates, as Excel's NETWORKDAYS does, gives 56 days and 37 business days.
A column of invoice dates
Input
11/02/2026 11/13/2026 11/25/2026
Result
2026-12-02 2026-12-14 2026-12-28
Each date plus 30 days, moved to the next business day: December 13 is a Sunday and December 25 is Christmas. One answer per line, ready to paste beside the original column.
How to find a date or count days
- Choose Find a date to add or subtract time, or Count days to measure the time between two dates.
- Type the number and pick the dates. The answer starts from today and updates as you type.
- Read the notes under the answer: weekends, holidays, shorter months and what was skipped.
- Open Customize to choose your days off and what happens when an answer lands on one; each choice shows its result. To answer a whole column, choose A list of dates beside the tabs and paste.
Date calculator questions
Is the start date counted?
No. One business day after a Friday is Monday, and Count days uses the same rule, so the two agree. Counting both dates, which is how Excel's NETWORKDAYS works, is shown as a second number.
Which holidays are skipped?
The 11 U.S. federal holidays in the years they existed. A Saturday holiday is observed on Friday and a Sunday holiday on Monday. Inauguration Day, state holidays and one-time closings are not included; add them as your own days off.
What happens with shorter months?
Adding months keeps the day of the month when it exists. One month after January 31 is the last day of February, and the answer says so. A year after February 29 works the same way.
Can I calculate a whole column of dates?
Yes. Choose A list of dates and paste up to 10,000 lines: one date each, or two to count between. Copy gives one answer per line in the same order; Download CSV adds the inputs and notes.
Which date formats can I paste?
2026-11-06, 11/6/2026, Nov 6, 2026 and 6 November 2026 all work, and times after a date are ignored. A list such as 25/12/2026 is read day first. When a list could be read either way, the results say how and offer the other order.
Calendar rules, stated plainly
Dates run from the year 1 to 9999 on today's calendar, as databases count them. Business days and holiday notes start in 1900, and years after 2026 follow today's holiday law. Two-digit years mean 1930 to 2029. Today is the date on your device.
